College Student Arrested After Wearing Gorilla Mask To Black Lives Matter Protest Posted: 02 Oct 2016 12:20 AM PDT

An East Tennessee State University student was arrested by Police on Wednesday after he disrupted a Black Lives Matter protest. The young man, Tristan Rettke was a freshman at the university and went to the protest wearing a Gorilla mask and handing out bananas. He also carried a bag that had a Confederate flag drown on the side and a bunch of rope. He was charged with one count of civil rights intimidation for the on-campus incident. student   Rettke told police after he had been arrested that he’d heard about the protest a few days earlier. He promptly bought the mask, rope, and bananas with the intention of provoking the Black Lives Matter protesters. One of the protesters described what happened to the school newspaper, he said “I saw him come down the stairs as a gorilla, he pulled out his burlap sack and then he had the rope and whatnot and then he started offering us bananas. A lot of us didn’t take it, but I just took as a sign of peace offering and just to show him that, just because he’s being disrespectful towards me, I won’t be disrespectful towards him.student   East Tennessee State University has launched an internal student-conduct investigation and confirmed that Rettke had been suspended as well. Another protester, Trevor King said “Seeing somebody blatantly disrespect people in that manner … I’ve never had someone to my face be disrespectful like that, so it was just new to me. It was hard for me to keep my calm, but everybody and the support that’s what kept me calm.” The post College Student Arrested After Wearing Gorilla Mask To Black Lives Matter Protest appeared first on

Cavaliers offer KG coaching job

I talked to him about it, I know his wife is pushing for it a lot. Brandi is pushing for it, trying to get him to come and coach. He says he’s not ready yet. He goes back, `I might do it,’ but he’s back and forth. We’ll see. But I’d definitely make a spot for him if he wanted to come back and coach.” Coach Lue said after team practice on Thursday. Kevin Garnett announced his retirement from the NBA last Friday after 21 seasons in the league, averaging 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as well as winning the league in 2008. The 40-year-old is a sure-fire Hall of Famer and played for the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics, but he is best known for his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves when he had nine consecutive seasons. Lue also said that Garnett plans to attend the Cavs opening game on Oct. 25, when superstar Lebron James and his teammates will receive their championship rings and raise a title banner. Paris Hotel To Pay Over $60K To Cleaner Sexually Assaulted By Guest Posted: 02 Oct 2016 12:09 AM PDT

A luxury hotel in Paris has been told to pay an African woman who worked as a cleaner at the hotel over $60,000 after she was molested by a Qatari guest.
The woman, from Guinea in West Africa, according to a court ruling has been awarded $64,000 by a Paris labor relations tribunal. She was subsequently fired for refusing to transfer to another hotel.
The ruling also said that the five-star Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome did not provide sufficient protection to stop such from incidents occurring. In July 2010, the 33-year-old cleaner was molested by a member of Qatari Prince Al-Thani’s entourage. She also tried to commit suicide after the incident according to reports, asking for a sick leave on a number of occasions for post-traumatic stress“. The Park Hyatt asked her to transfer to another hotel, but when she refused, she was fired. The tribunal said that this decision was “tantamount to discrimination”. The hotel was also criticized by the tribunal for failing to alert the police allowing the aggressor to escape. The woman’s lawyer, Maude Beckers, said this was “a first in the area of sexual harassment.” The hotel, however, said it would appeal the ruling, saying it was in“total disagreement.”  In a separate case in 2011, former head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn was accused of attacking and sexually assaulting a West African maid, Nafissatou Diallo, in his luxury suit at a hotel in New York. A New York court dropped the charges against Strauss-Kahn because they were not certain beyond a reasonable doubt that the hotel maid was telling the truth.

A Movie About Not Making A Movie Posted: 02 Oct 2016 12:02 AM PDT

In 2014, three Filmmakers from Chicago raised $78,000 on crowdfunding site, Indiegogo to make a movie and then they disappeared. The three sketch comedy artists known as FND Films collected the cash and fell off the face of the earth. No details were revealed about the promised film aside from the title: It’s All Good. Understandably, supporters, fans and donors were furious. Their Facebook page was flooded with comments like “Are you fucking serious???? Where’s the fucking money??“. Some people even threatened legal action against FND Films. Finally, a video surfaced where FND Films president Aaron Fronk apologized to fans, saying “I’m so sorry to announce that due to complications and things beyond our control, the movie can no longer be completed“. Even going on Fox news to admit that the group ran out of money before even a fraction of the film was completed. With the situation reaching peak level in their Facebook comment section, FMD Films announce that they did infact make a film… A film about not making a movie. The film, still titled It’s All Good, is an action comedy out on Oct. 21 about what happens when three dudes crowdfund a movie project and then run away with the cash. The plot mirrors the filmmakers’ experience on Indiegogo and dealing with angry contributors, but spins off into a fictionalized account of how they blow it. The movie also includes footage from real angry fans . Watch the trailer for It’s All Good here

Lahm: Bayern Have Lots Of Work To Do Posted: 01 Oct 2016 11:25 PM PDT

Philipp Lahm believes Bayern Munich are not where Carlo Ancelotti wants them to be yet, after a 1-1 draw with Cologne. The Bavarians opened the scoring thanks to Joshua Kimmich, only for Modeste’s acrobatic effort to earn a point for his side. And even though they have opened a lead at the top of the table, Lahm believes they need to reach where Ancelotti wants. “We still have much work to do,” he said. “Offensively as well as defensively we have to work. We see that we are not yet where we want to go. “We need to get there. In recent years we have succeeded. We have now lost a game and drawn today. “It is quite normal that we do not always go with the same technique and that has come because there are new coaches here. “Of course we are disappointed, we wanted to win. It has always distinguished us that we do not drop points, especially not at home. “Nevertheless, we are set [at the top]. Now there are very important matches after the break and we have to improve.” The post Lahm: Bayern Have Lots Of Work To Do appeared first on
Rose: Knicks Training Camp, Best Of My Career Posted: 01 Oct 2016 11:07 PM PDT

Injury plagued Derrick Rose, has revealed his excitement at the training camp, saying he feels great. And also stated the training camp with the Knicks, ranks as the best camp of his career, not that he has had too many. “I look at it as the years that I’ve played on the league, this the most focus I’ve had knowing the situation, what I’m getting myself into,” Rose said. “The big year we have ahead of us. We’re focused, we’re dedicated, that’s all you want from this group.” Rose added that Knicks coaches have been impressed by his stamina, which is measured by a wearable technology that the Knicks players use during practice. “This is my first time paying attention to it,” Rose said. “And the training staff went into depth about how hard I go and how much distance I cover and the impact of how I just play. And they have to kick me off the court here and there cause of how hard I work.” The post Rose: Knicks Training Camp, Best Of My Career appeared first on
Mourinho: Rooney Will Continue To Captain United Posted: 01 Oct 2016 10:56 PM PDT

Jose Mourinho is insisting that Wayne Rooney remains the captain at Manchester United, despite starting from the bench. The England international was dropped to the bench in the EPL match against Leicester City and also in the Europa League match against Zorya. Nevertheless, Mourinho is adamant Rooney has no reason to worry about potentially losing the armband, regardless of his changed status. “Wayne is the captain, no matter what,” the manager told reporters. “It doesn’t matter whether he is on or off the pitch. He is my captain and the captain of the club and the captain of the players. “And that is difficult, to be the captain of everyone. So he has all the respect and all the support. He is a Manchester United man, he is a great professional and wants to win and of course he was happy when we scored. “He is speaking to the players and motivates people. He does exactly in the dressing room the same as he did a couple of weeks ago when he was starting matches. He is our man. He will score goals for us and he will work hard for us, I have no doubts about it.” The post Mourinho: Rooney Will Continue To Captain United appeared first on
#NigeriaAt56 And The Worship Of Baal Posted: 01 Oct 2016 05:23 PM PDT

Nigeria At 56 And The Worship Of Baal – Fani Kayode Nigeria is 56 years old today. Consequently it is time to speak some home-truths and look at where we are in the scheme of things. It is time to consider how well our government has fared since coming to power and to compare their record of service to previous governments that were in the saddle before them. Sadly the score sheet does not look too good.

This article was written by Femi Fani-Kayode. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

The rigging of elections, the persecution of opposition figures, the demonisation of dissenters, the destruction of the economy, the pauperisation of our people, the introduction of famine, the humiliation of Nigerians coupled with violence, impunity, aggression, intolerance and tyranny: that is all President Muhammadu Buhari and his government have served our people since he was sworn in on May 29th 2015. The last one year and four months have been the worst since independence in terms of the violation of human rights, civil liberties and court orders by our government. We have witnessed unprecedented mass murder, butchery, carnage and barbarity by well-armed and highly favored Fulani herdsmen and ethnic militias coupled with genocide and unprecedented extra-judicial killings by our military personnel and state security forces. We have witnessed the resurrection of Abubakar Shekau and the mutation of Boko Haram into two powerful new factions. We have seen them re-take towns and communities that they lost years ago and hoist their dirty black flag in parts of the north-east. Our government have given up on the Chibok girls and we witnessed the humiliation, insults and physical harassment by security forces that those who have fought for their return in the BBOG group have been subjected to in the last few months. We have have seen the rapid depreciation of the naira, the total decimation of our industrial, agricultural and manufacturing sector and the destruction and decay of virtually all our roads, airports, power generating facilities and infra-structures. Our government has squandered our foreign reserves. Driven away local and foreign investment. Caused the dollar to fly away. Created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty in the markets. Forced people to spend their life savings and capital just to survive. Reduced many Nigerians to eating just one meal a day. Caused many to withdraw their children from school simply because they cannot afford to pay fees. And they have driven many to depression, suicide and despair. Unemployment is at a record high. The banks and indeed the entire financial sector is dying because there is no liquidity. The naira is approaching 500 naira to one US dollar which represents an over 100 per cent depreciation in the space of one year. We are in the middle of the worst economic recession that we have suffered in our 56 years of existence as an independent nation-state. Thousands are being laid off on a daily basis. Graduate and non-graduate unemployment is at a record high. Food prices, the price of transport and the price of fuel, diesel and kerosene have shot up. Finally we have witnessed the total and complete dashing of the hopes, aspirations and dreams of the Nigerian people. Our government is corrupt, weak, paranoid, incompetent, cowardly, fearful of criticism, terrified of a strong opposition, unable to cope with dissent, insensitive, delusional, wicked, sociopathic and psychopathic. Worse still they have attracted the opprobrium, contempt, derision and scorn of the entire international community and the derision of major corporate investors and multi-national corporations. The only thing that they are good at doing is blaming President Jonathan and indeed all past PDP Presidents and governments, including President Obasanjo, for their failures and inability to perform. They are also pretty good at conducting media trials and witchunts and indulging in Soviet-style propaganda and the demonisation of their perceived enemies. Yet most frightening of all is the fact that our President is out of touch with reality. He does not appear to be living in the 21st century. His solutions and remedies to the complex economic problems of a modern-nation state in 2016 are the same ones that he proffered and which failed him woefully when he was military Head of State between 1983 and 1985. We really appear to be going down the drain under his leadership. I pray that God intervenes soon and does something extraordinary because this accursed government simply has to go. They have divided us along religious and ethnic lines more than any government in our entire history. They have come to spread poverty and distribute shame. They have sought to islamise our country, demean our faith, disgrace the Church and undermine our Christian leaders and clerics. They have destabilised our nation and undermined our unity to such an extent that the majority of our people secretly despise and covertly pray against the continuation of a united Nigeria. They have brought us to our very knees, turned us into a nation of beggars and paupers and reduced us to cowardly and timid slaves. They seek to break us, cause us to crawl, crush our spirits, torment our souls and compel us to accept a North Korean-style system of government with its cultic worship of a maximum ruler who sees himself as a demi-god and deity that must be obeyed and worshipped by all. Such is Mr. President’s desire and craving for worship and such has the spirit if narcissus seized and possessed him that he even had a man arrested, detained and prosecuted for daring to name his dog after him. Yet thankfully they will fail in their quest because the Living God, from whom nothing is hidden, will not allow them to succeed. They will fail because ultimately good will always prevail over evil. They will fail because no matter what they do they cannot separate us from the love of the Lord. They will fail because the God that we serve is mighty and He is faithful to His own. Permit me to digress. I have been reliably informed that my life and liberty has become a major source of irritation and anger for the maximum ruler. I have been told that he hates me so much that he has issued orders that his gestapo should come for me again and this time around to torture me or even poison me whilst I am in their custody. Yet I count it all as joy. I laugh them all to scorn. If only they knew the God that I serve. If only they could comprehend the nature of He who sent me and who works through me. If only they knew the source of their numerous problems and why they are going through all that they are going through. If only they knew why they are groping in hopelessness, dancing with failure and hobbling in the dark. If only they knew that you cannot fight against the Holy Spirit or battle against the Lord. If only they knew the power of God and the efficacy and power of the scripture that says “touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm”.
As long as they seek to do nothing but pursue, demean, misrepresent, destroy and kill the defenceless and innocent who have done no wrong, the Angel of the Lord will continue to pursue them along a dark and slippery path. He will frustrate all their efforts, plagues shall torment them, failure shall trail them and peace shall continue to elude them. For the record the bottom line is as follows: yours truly would rather die than be silenced or be compelled to bow down and worship Baal and his accursed disciples. As long as there is breath in me, no matter what, I will exercise my God-given right of expression and I will fight and oppose the evil soul that presides over the affairs of our nation because he has brought nothing but suffering, hardship, pain, shame and tears to our people and to our land. He is the proverbial “darkness that seeks the darkness”. Yet, in the end, his own darkness will overwhelm him and the light and power of the Living God will bring him down to his knees and remove him from his exalted and dizzy heights. And if I should fall before that time, posterity will be kind to me and men will know that there once lived a man who spoke the bitter truth about the powers that once were and who saw tomorrow. Yet the beast remains as relentless as ever because, like satan, his time is short. Worse still he has turned on his own. It is no longer Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, his loyalists and leading members of the PDP that are being targeted anymore. Now the erstwhile allies and friends of Baal’s tiny cabal within the ruling party itself have also been listed for “special attention” and the torments of the evil eye in the next few months and years even if they don’t know it yet. Such is the nature and way of Baal. He simply does not know when to stop. Like Pharaoh his heart has been hardened unto destruction so that, at the end of the day, when nemesis catches up with him, the name of the Lord will be glorified. Like Nebuchadnezzar, he will be brought to his knees and he will crawl like a grass-eating beast in the forest until his eyes are opened and he acknowledges the majesty and awesome power of the Lord God of Hosts and the Ancient of Days. Happy Independence Day.

Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe Speaks About Reports Linking Him To England Job Posted: 01 Oct 2016 04:19 PM PDT

Eddie Howe says speculation linking him with England was not a distraction in the build-up to Bournemouth’s draw at Watford. During the week the Cherries boss played down suggestions he would be Sam Allardyce’s successor, and he repeated his focus was on Bournemouth after today’s Premier League clash. “It’s been the easiest thing in the world for me,” Howe said. “Football and the day-to-day workings of the job are what I love to do. “So, no disrespect, I don’t take a blind bit of notice of anything that is written or said because I have to focus on the football and the players I have here.” Wilshere missed out on Allardyce’s one and only England squad and did little to enhance his prospects of a return for the World Cup qualifiers with Malta and Slovakia. The on-loan Arsenal midfielder twice hit the outside of the post, the second time from six yards out with the goal gaping after Adam Smith’s cross from the right. But Howe said: “The pleasing thing for us is that Jack’s getting in goal-scoring positions. With his class and his quality there’s no doubt he’ll be scoring goals for this team in the future. “The last two games he’s improved as the game has gone on. He’s grown into the game. “I felt that was the same today. His influence grew. And I think he’s going to be a massive player for us.” The post Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe Speaks About Reports Linking Him To England Job appeared first on
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Turned Down Huge Salary From Chinese Club Posted: 01 Oct 2016 04:12 PM PDT

Zlatan Ibrahimovic apparently turned down a lucrative deal from China to move to Manchester United. Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic turned down an eye-watering €100million move to Chinese football in the summer, his agent Mino Raiola has revealed. Ibrahimovic signed for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United as a free agent after seeing out the remainder of his contract with French champions PSG. The 34-year-old joined United on a free transfer in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain. But his agent, Mino Raiola, told Il Giornale: “Ibrahimovic is the best. He turned down €100m net from the Chinese. He doesn’t want more money, he wants to win. “I’ve been lucky. I’ve always had champions Zlatan, (Pavel) Nedved, Maxwell and now (Blaise) Matuidi and (Gianluigi) Donnarumma,’ Raiola said. In moving to United Ibrahimovic ensured he would still be plying his trade in one of Europe’s top leagues. Ibrahimovic has scored six goals already this season, and was on target recently in the Red Devils’ 1-0 Europa League away victory over Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk. Next up United face Stoke City at Old Trafford, and a goal from Ibrahimovic could see the striker move back to the top of the Premier League goal-scoring chart. Slaven Bilic : Simone Zaza Will Improve Posted: 01 Oct 2016 03:49 PM PDT

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic insists patience is the key for Italy international Simone Zaza. The striker, who signed on loan from Juventus with a view to a permanent club-record £24m transfer next year, has yet to score for the Hammers. He has struggled so much that reports in Italy have claimed the Hammers could cancel his loan deal and send him back to Turin. “He is definitely a good player who came from a big club to a new country,” said Bilic. New players need time. If we go back and think about Bergkamp, who needed – I don’t know – a year? “The problem now is, and it is quite common with even the best players from abroad, they need time. Plus he wasn’t a regular at Juventus and didn’t have match fitness. It takes time sometimes, and unfortunately we don’t have that time.” The post Slaven Bilic : Simone Zaza Will Improve appeared first on
Ilkay Gundogan Admits He Could Have Signed For Manchester United  Posted: 01 Oct 2016 03:18 PM PDT

Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan admits he turned down a transfer to Manchester United earlier in his career as he felt it wasn’t the time to move. After much speculation surrounding his future, the German became the first signing under Pep Guardiola, when he left Borussia Dortmund after five years for £20million in June 2016. Three games and one goal into life at the Etihad, Gundogan has settled well, but says it could very well have been United he had signed for. “It was not the biggest lie. Two years ago, three years ago it was not the time. I had a contract at Dortmund and I was not thinking of leaving the club so it was not a discussion,” he told The Telegraph. When asked why he moved this summer, Gundogan added: “I wanted to come out of that comfort zone and join a new team, with a new manager, with a new club, a new country, a new league, a very competitive league. “It’s not easy to handle all that, I knew that. Everyone told me the Premier League is the hardest. So I just wanted to try because I had nothing to lose.” The post Ilkay Gundogan Admits He Could Have Signed For Manchester United  appeared first on
Mikael Lustig Desperate To Remain At Celtic Posted: 01 Oct 2016 03:02 PM PDT

Mikael Lustig has set his sights on securing a new Celtic deal, the Daily Record reports. The Hoops defender is out of contract at the end of the season – and he’s waiting to kickstart talks over an extension. The Sweden international has spent five years at Celtic Park and is hoping boss Brendan Rodgers sees him as part of his long-term plans. “There’s been no movement. I’m in my last season. We haven’t discussed the contract so we will see what happens,” he told the newspaper. “I want to stay. I’m really happy here and have been here for five years. I’ve loved every minute of my time here.” The versatile defender played a key role in Wednesday night’s Champions League thriller with Manchester City. The Hoops restored their ragged reputations following their collapse in the Nou Camp and Lustig insisted Celts are gunning for Borussia Monchengladbach in just over a fortnight. MLS Boss Don Barber Wants Bastian Schweinsteiger Posted: 01 Oct 2016 02:52 PM PDT

MLS boss Don Barber wants Manchester United misfit Bastian Schweinsteiger to cross the pond Major League Soccer chief Don Barber has heaped praise on the German and has said he would be welcome in America. Manchester Evening News claim his exit is investable with Dallas to offer him a way out of Old Trafford. Speaking about Schweinsteiger, Barber insists he has always admired the 32-year-old’s success. “He is an incredible player,” he said. “I always admired him and the success that his teams had. That is no coincidence, he is a winner. “At the moment we only have space for one designated player and we wanted to fill this with a striker. Maybe it will change, we will see.” “Should Schweinsteiger continue his unique career, we would appreciate it if he thinks about the MLS,” Garber told Eurosport.  “Bastian can be a leader for the many young talents.” The post MLS Boss Don Barber Wants Bastian Schweinsteiger appeared first on
Arsene Wenger Was Manchester United’s Choice To Replace Sir Alex Ferguson  Posted: 01 Oct 2016 02:30 PM PDT

It came in 2002 when the legendary United manager considered retirement for the first time, but Wenger rebuffed their advances. Despite the bitter rivalry between the two managers at the time, the Daily Star claim that United were keen to land the impressive Wenger after his fine work at Arsenal. It has previously been reported that the Gunners boss has also turned down offers from Ligue 1 champions PSG. Georginio Wijnaldum says it took him just one meeting with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to decide to move to Anfield last summer. “We had one meeting, which was already convincing, and after that I was with my agent and I said: ‘Let’s see how serious they are,’” said Wijnaldum in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports. “But we had a meeting on the Sunday and on the Monday they called my agent to make me an offer and they went to Newcastle to make the deal. So that already gave me a feeling that he [Klopp] really wants me in his team, and that was a great feeling.” “Before we even had a conversation, he asked me: ‘Why were you sitting on the bench last season?’ because I had two games I was on the bench last season,” he said. “I explained to him and said: ‘OK we can now have a conversation.’ We talked about football and how he wants to play, how he sees me in his team. “And also that he can make me a much better player because he said: ‘You can develop much more than you have now.’ “I also had it in my head that I can be much better than right now and I had a feeling that he was the right man to help me with that.” Despite seamlessly settling into life on Merseyside, Wijnaldum – who has started every Premier League matches so far for Liverpool, providing two assists along the way – still thinks he can improve certain aspects of his game. “To be fair, I settled in quite quick, but I am not really happy with my own performances, because I know I can do better,” said the Dutchman who captained PSV Eindhoven at the age of just 22 while leading them to their first Eredivisie title for seven years. “I will strive to do better. I am happy with our results and how I played, but not really happy as I know I can do better. The post Georginio Wijnaldum Reveals Why He Decided To Sign For Liverpool  appeared first on
