These Are The Lies Nigerian Girls Tell Posted: 06 Oct 2016 11:08 PM PDT

Lies rank at the top of things most people dislike and for good reasons. As a matter of fact, even people that are perpetual liars will say the thing that turns them off most is people lying. A lot of Nigerian girls are real but unfortunately there are bad eggs among them too. Lying comes easy to girls that fall in the latter category because they are used to covering one lie with a bigger one. This is however no way to live as lies can not only be annoying and irritating but can also cause serious problems. Some Nigerian girls are no doubt good liars but what seems to bother people is when lied to is that they believe they are been taken for a ride. There’s really no need to lie as an adult because the highest thing that will happen to you when caught is to get reprimanded for doing so. This has however not deterred Nigerian girls from lying and coming up with the silliest of excuses when asked why they lied. They will not only lie when doing their day to day activities, but will do so in their relationships. Check out the lies that are common to Nigerian girls. I Have A Boyfriend Overseas It is funny to think that the location of a boyfriend can matter but most Nigerian girls will lie about this for you to see them as balling. It is common to see a lot of them claim that they have boyfriends who do not live in the country. They claim these guys are rich to intimidate you but there’s no one existing in between. I Don’t Like Visiting Fast Food Joints Almost every Nigerian girl wants you to see her as a homely person because they know how sensitive most Nigerian men are to women that love eating outside. A lot of ladies will make you feel that they do not enjoy eating at eateries even though we know how much they love pastries and ice cream. I Don’t Care About Your Money It is common to find a Nigerian girl say that she is independent and doesn’t care about your money. This is not to say that there are no independent ones with sustainable means of livelihood and who do not depend on men for material things. Despite this however, they will most likely not turn down a man with the qualities they want especially if he is rich. With recession and all, which girl doesn’t want money? I Don’t Double Date This is one of the commonest lies you can hear from a Nigerian girl’s mouth. They will tell you they don’t know how to double date and have never tried it before and you’d be left wondering who the guys they are cheating with are. Even if they are would they step out and say it openly? Everyone has one thing or the other that they’ve done that they are not especially proud of and dating multiple women falls into this category. More so, a society like ours frowns at such habits where the women are expected to be modest. I Don’t Enjoy Sex When sex is being discussed, it’s common to see Nigerian women attempt to blend in. These girls will however do all they can to milk you dry while claiming to be virgins. There’s also the likelihood of having them lie to you of not enjoying having regular sex. What most of these women don’t realise is that it is better to keep quiet and say nothing than be caught in a lie. Moreover, the issue of sexuality is a personal thing and no one will judge you for it. I Don’t Visit Men In Their Homes What really is the big deal in visiting a man in his home? As a matter of fact, she can visit with a couple of her friends if she’s scared that something untoward might happen. Unfortunately however, Nigerian girls will always lie about not wanting to visit for you not to see them as a flirt. It is hard to determine why Nigerian women make a big deal out of visiting a man in the house but that is surely one of the lies Nigerian girls tell. De Rossi: I’d Rather Buffon Made Mistake At Juventus Instead Posted: 06 Oct 2016 11:03 PM PDT

Daniele De Rossi leapt to captain Gianluigi Buffon’s defence following the goalkeeper’s mistake in the natch against Spain. The veteran goalie made a mistake after failing to make an interception to allow Vitolo open the scoring for Spain. However, De Rossi equalised for Italy from the spot. And the Roma man also bemoaned the fact that Buffon has kept his blunders to a minimum for Juventus. “The best goalkeeper in history can make mistakes, too – otherwise, he’d be a machine,” the Roma midfielder told Rai Sport. “I would have preferred him to make a mistake for Juventus rather than Italy, but you can’t have everything!” De Rossi felt Italy deserved a point for the way in which they improved their performance after a tame opening hour in which they failed to register a shot. “It was tough, especially in the first half,” he said. “Spain always control the ball, but in the first half we were too deep and allowed them too much possession. We were too weak in the tackle and then we kept giving them back the ball. “The first half was bad, but the second was much better – the comeback is in our DNA. The draw isn’t the best result, but I think the group that did well in Euro 2016 is still going strong. “When you concede, the attitude has to change. Before the goal we were too timid and we didn’t push hard enough. “Many teams in our position would have lost, but we drew, and we risked looking for a winner at the end. We got that intensity back.” The post De Rossi: I’d Rather Buffon Made Mistake At Juventus Instead appeared first on
Ramos Wants To Shut Critics Up Posted: 06 Oct 2016 11:01 PM PDT

Sergio Ramos has one goal after he was criticised for giving away a penalty in Spain’s 1-1 draw against Italy, and it is to shut his critics up. La Roja took the lead in the second half after a Buffon error, the veteran shotstopper charged at Vitolo, but failed the connect with the ball, leaving an empty net. Italy received a reprieve when a tackle from Ramos sent Eder to ground inside the area and Daniele De Rossi duly dispatched the penalty. The Real Madrid defender noticed a stark difference in the reception Buffon received on home soil to that which he would get for his mistake back in Spain. Ramos said: “The difference between Spain and Italy is that when Buffon, who is an idol, makes an error he is applauded. In Spain, you are booed. “Those criticising me now should enjoy themselves, because I’m going to shut them up in the end.” Despite his error, Ramos took the positives from the 1-1 draw, claiming strides forward have been made since the two sides met in the last 16 of Euro 2016 – a meeting which Italy won 2-0. “I’m proud of the match, not the penalty. The level of intensity we showed was very high. They took advantage of their strengths,” he added. “We drew against a top national team, we noticed a big change compared to what was seen at the European Championship.” The post Ramos Wants To Shut Critics Up appeared first on
ITF Issues Sharapova Response Posted: 06 Oct 2016 11:00 PM PDT

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has defended itself against Maria Sharapova and the handling of her Meldonium case. Sharapova: ITF Made A Scapegoat Out Of Me The ITF denied the tennis player’s claims that they sought out a four-year ban and she was targeted. The ITF also stressed it had no knowledge the drug, meldonium, had been put on the banned drugs list. Maria Sharapova Issues Statement On 2-Year Ban For Positive Drug Test For Meldonium “The ITF did not try to ban Ms. Sharapova for four years, as has been suggested,” the tennis governing body said. “The ITF stated clearly that it was the responsibility of the Independent Tribunal — and subsequently the CAS Panel — to determine what the appropriate sanction should be.” It added: “Ms. Sharapova has stated that the Independent Tribunal was ‘not neutral’. “Ms. Sharapova’s legal team was given the opportunity to object to the appointment of any member of that Tribunal in advance of the hearing, and they agreed in writing that they had no such objection.” The ITF believed it had taken appropriate steps to publicise changes to the prohibited list and it was “not true” to say that it was aware of widespread use of meldonium in Eastern Europe and should have given specific notice. “In fact, it was accepted by Ms. Sharapova in the hearing before CAS that the ITF did not know before 2016 about the extent to which meldonium was used by athletes from any region, or that Ms. Sharapova herself was using meldonium,” it said. The ITF pointed out that the WADA monitoring programme is conducted anonymously and WADA “does not inform any anti-doping organisation about the prevalence of such use until it publishes the results of the monitoring programme.” The post ITF Issues Sharapova Response appeared first on

Nigerian Gov’t Withdraws Charges Against Saraki, Ekweremadu Posted: 06 Oct 2016 05:07 PM PDT

The Nigerian government has withdrawn the charge of criminal conspiracy against Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu. The motion was supported in an affidavit filed by a litigation officer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, Odubu Loveme, on Thursday, before the High Court of Federal Capital Territory.

READ ALSO: Alleged Forgery: Buhari, Saraki In Heated War Of Words

In the motion, Mr Loveme held that the counsel to the Federal Government on the matter, Aliyu Umar, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, on September 30, in the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, informed him that he had studied the case diary and “had decided to amend the charge in the manner stated on the face of the motion paper”. Consequently, the litigation officer stated that he had filed an amended charge.

“That I depose to this affidavit in good faith believing same to be correct to the best of my knowledge and information and in accordance with the Oaths Act Cap 01 laws of the Federation of Nigeria,” he said.

Saraki and Ekweremadu, as well as a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, and a former Deputy clerk, Ben Efeturi, were first arraigned before Justice Yusuf Halilu on June 10, 2016.

However, based on the amended charge, only Maikasuwa and Efeturi would face prosecution. The first charge against the two civil servants, is that of Criminal Conspiracy punishable under section 97 (1) Penal Code Act ( Northern States) Federation Provisions Act, 1960, Cap 345, laws of the Federation 1990 as amended.

It read that: ” Salisu Maikasuwa and Benedict Efeturi, on or about the 9th day of June 2015 at the National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zone, Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable court agreed to do an illegal act, to wit to make the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended without the authority of the 7th Senate of the Federal republic of Nigeria which act was committed by yourselves and that you thereby committed the offence of criminal conspiracy.”

The two officials are also accused of fraudulently amending the 2015 Senate Standing Orders without the authority of the 7th Senate ” with intention that the Senators elect of the 8th Senate would believe that the said Senate Standing Orders 2015 ( as amended) was made by the authority of the 7th Senate of the Federal republic of Nigeria.” The duo are accused of forging a document punishable under section 366 of the Penal Code Act ( Northern States) Federal Provisions Act, 1960, Cap 345, Laws of the Federation 1990 ( as amended).

The federal government also accused them of giving false information with the intention to mislead the public. The Court had on September 28 adjourned the matter to Friday, October 7 for commencement of hearing. The post Nigerian Gov’t Withdraws Charges Against Saraki, Ekweremadu appeared first on

Tinubu’s Travails And Oyegun As A Metaphor For Buhari Posted: 06 Oct 2016 04:26 PM PDT

Tinubu’s Travails And Oyegun As A Metaphor For Buhari, By Majeed Dahiru The gradual but steady demystification of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by forces within the APC; a party he contributed immensely to build, actually started with his failed attempt to be vice president. This was followed by his failed attempt to have his preferred candidates elected into the leadership of the APC dominated National Assembly.

This piece was written by Majeed Dahiru. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of

As if these were not enough, his former protégés (Babatunde Fashola, Kayode Fayemi etc) with whom he has apparently fallen out, were appointed ministers into the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, against what may have been his recommendations. In all of these, he maintained a dignified silence on the role of the party and by extension the presidency by assuming all was well. However, he was pressed to cry out when his last forte of influence appears to be threatened – the APC structure of South West. Asiwaju is beginning to lose grip of his power base and he can’t afford to keep quiet and watch his political fiefdom taken away. In all his political travails, Tinubu has often blamed his perceived enemies within the party. He blames the National Assembly saga on the excessive ambition of Bukola Saraki, the man who emerged as senate president over his preferred candidate, Ahmed Lawan. However, indications began to emerge that there could be a powerful but invincible hand behind his many political misfortunes, when again his preferred candidate for the substitution of the late Abubakar Audu, in the inconclusive November 2015 Kogi state gubernatorial election, James Faleke was dropped by the party under pressure from powerful quarters and instead fielded Yahaya Bello, the first runner up in the primaries that produced Abubakar Audu. Political watchers described this event as a measure by certain Northern elements in the presidency to keep Tinubu’s sphere of political influence away from the Northern region. The Jagaban got the message and retreated to his original zone of South-West. This time, as he had always done, he attempted to influence the emergence of his preferred aspirant, Dr. Segun Abrahams as the candidate of the APC for the Ondo state gubernatorial election. He must have hoped he would easily emerge as the flag bearer of the APC and with power of federal incumbency go on to win the election proper. Alas, this was not going to happen. This time around, his opponents had the apex leadership of the party on their side and so it was that his candidate was defeated in a most spectacular manner, but not without controversies. Unable to take this humiliation in his own domain, Tinubu cried out. This time he blamed the national party chairman of APC, John Oyegun for his latest loss. He called for his outright resignation over what he described as his lack of integrity and sound judgment. However for those who understand the politics of a presidential system of government, the party leadership is ultimately loyal to the president. Tinubu may have realised this fact. Therefore, his naming of Oyegun as the cause of his problem is only a metaphor for President Buhari. What is happening in the APC is only a repeat of what happened in the PDP. The political astuteness of retired military men in politics, especially those who belong to the first, second and third generations of British trained army officers, who also had the privilege of ruling this country as military heads of state, have often been under-estimated by their civilian counterparts to their detriment. Their basic military training imbibes in them a messianic complex which makes them feel superior both in motives and actions in all their activities. Nobody leads them except one of their own. The art and science of coup plotting, which propelled them to power, requires more strategic planning and precise execution than a democratic election. They are masters of intrigue and power play. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo completely supplanted the so called founding fathers of PDP and dominated the politics of the former ruling party. Muhammudu Buhari, the politician, commonly mistaken for a statesman, is the real opponent and rival of Tinubu and not, Saraki or Oyegun or any other individual. Buhari is fully aware of the vulnerability of Tinubu and his politically exposed flanks. Buhari is aware of the fact Tinubu’s political successes outside Lagos State was achieved not by mass following, but with strategic partnership with powerful politicians in the South-West and beyond (Amosun in Ogun, Ajimobi in Oyo, Oshiomhole in Edo) etc. These are men of power and influence in their own rights whom Buhari can easily forge alliance with outside Tinubu. The fact that Buhari narrowly won Lagos State (with less than two hundred thousand votes) and the PDP clinching six out of twenty seats in the House of Representatives clearly showed that the Jagaban is not politically invincible after all. Muhammadu Buhari is one of Nigeria’s most successful politicians. He is the master of the game of minds which is very important in politics, because perception is all that matters. In the build up to the 2015 general elections, Buhari was able to forge alliances with a broad spectrum of diverse political interest groups which included the good, the bad and the ugly. He cuts the image of an apolitical figure that was out to help salvage a country drifting apart. He disguised his considerable personal resources (five houses and a home in Abuja) and came across as a poor man. He cleverly hid the luxurious lifestyle of members of his nuclear family with a Spartan outlook. While maintaining an anti-corruption posture, he successfully covered up his extreme sectional tendencies, which in fact is at the root of corruption. This largely explains the contradictions in the personality of Buhari and the double standards that characterises the actions and policies of his administration. The result of this very successful maneuvering was a massive moral and financial support from the Nigerian people; men and women, poor and rich, Christian and Muslim, old and young, across party divides. He is set to supplant Tinubu’s dominance in the party and like Obasanjo in PDP, he will succeed in APC. Tinubu is the honorary leader of APC but Buhari is the real leader and Oyegun and every other person know this. What will be the result of this power tussle within the APC? The same result of the power tussle within the former ruling party – implosion and disintegration. The only difference is that, while it took PDP sixteen years to implode and loose power at the centre, it will take a shorter time, possibly after just four years, for the APC to lose power at the centre. Whereas, Obasanjo of the PDP was helped a great deal in his political domination by his impressive performance in government, Buhari will be hampered by his less than average and lack-lustre performance. Warriors Have A 73-Win Banner Hanging In Their Practice Arena Posted: 06 Oct 2016 02:53 PM PDT

The Golden State Warriors lost the NBA finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers after being up 3-1, but they still broke the NBA’s regular season record. So there might not be another NBA title banner in their practice facility or Oracle home arena this new season, but they have hung a 73-9 banner in their practice facility in Oakland, California to commemorate what they accomplished. Warriors hang record regular season banner

Golden State had an amazing 2015-16 NBA campaign as they finished the regular season with a 73-9 record, breaking the record for the most wins in an NBA regular season set by Micheal Jordan and the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. The Banner includes the name of all the members of the record breaking team, 73 wins in an 82 game season is no easy feat and that banner looks like it would hang for a very long time. LagosPhoto Foundation Presents LagosPhoto Festival 2016: Rituals & Performance Posted: 06 Oct 2016 02:36 PM PDT

Currently in its seventh edition, LagosPhoto is the first and only international arts festival of photography in Nigeria.
In a month long programme, events include exhibitions, workshops, artist presentations, discussions, screening, and large scale outdoor installations in congested public spaces in Lagos.
The event aims to provide a platform for the development and education of contemporary photography in Africa by establishing mentorships and cross-cultural collaborations with local and international artists.
LagosPhoto presents photography as it is embodied in the exploration of historical and contemporary issues, the promotion of social programmes, and the reclaiming of public spaces.
LagosPhoto 2016 will feature thirty photographers spanning seventeen countries.
Rituals and Performance: explores the role of acts of repetition that shape gender, image, identity, social agency, power and social constructs in contemporary society.
The repetitive acts imbued with belief become coercive and normative. It shapes our general idea of what is true in determining an African image, gender, religion, beauty, social class and so forth.
Michel Foucault’s (1980) conception on the transmissions and representations of power not just in its ability to contain and control but in its ability to enable individuals to function within cultural roles and allows for alternative self-definitions and self-presentations.
Contemporary visual representations directly affect the cultural meanings associated with image construction and interpretation.

Zidane: I Will Eventually Be Sacked Posted: 06 Oct 2016 01:53 PM PDT

Zidane says he does not fear the axe that seems to loom over him and believes Madrid will sack him one day. The former Madridsta replaced Rafael Benitez at the helm of the club and led them to their 11th UCL title. However, he could not deliver the La Liga trophy with Madrid finishing one point behind Barcelona. Madrid have drawn four successive games – three in the league and one in the Champions League – and the pressure on Zidane has begun to build. “I’m not afraid of being fired,” he told RMC. “Anyway, it will happen. “I thoroughly enjoy what I do. I have an incredible opportunity, I am happy wth what I do. I enjoy my job, which is not always easy. “But I want to learn and advance. Working with these great players I learn every day. I am dedicated to what I do on the field. What is interesting to me is the week [of training], more than the matches. “I have an exceptional group, whether we win or we lose they are good people.” Zidane believes Madrid’s current problems are more psychological than physical, and is confident he will be able to find a solution to get them back to winning ways. He added: “What’s important it’s to find solutions and I’ll find the solution. There is nothing catastrophic, but it’s not trivial. “I don’t think it’s a physical problem. It’s the first minutes of the games that are penalising us. The content of these games in LaLiga were very bad, especially against Villarreal. “It’s psychological. We are trying to find the problem.” The post Zidane: I Will Eventually Be Sacked appeared first on

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, on Wednesday, said all “suicide bombers are going to hell.” Tuface And Annie Idibia Visit Sultan of SokotoTuface And Annie Idibia Visit Sultan of Sokoto The monarch made this statement, while receiving popular Nigerian singer, 2Face Idibia, at his palace. The Sultan said religions abhor killings, and that Islam and Christianity preach peace and love among their faithful. According to him, no human being can claim to love God without loving his neighbour.

“Religion is a personal choice of an individual. Therefore, nobody can force any religion on anybody. Suicide bombers are going to hell,” he said.

He urged Idibia to continue using his talent to promote peace and peaceful coexistence among Nigerian youths. The monarch also admonished youths never to allow selfish preachers and politicians use them to realise their inordinate ambitions. Idibia had earlier promised to continue using his talent to promote peace and peaceful coexistence among youths. Santos: Ronaldo A Source Of Inspiration For The Young Portugal Players Posted: 06 Oct 2016 10:18 AM PDT

Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as a source of inspiration for the young stars in his squad. Ronaldo is set to make his return to the Portugal squad for the first time since the Euro 2016 against Andorra. The Real Madrid man was brought off in the first half of the 1-0 win over France in the Euro final, but returned to the dugout to spur his teammates on. Santos, however, says his captain’s successes at club level – which include three Champions League titles – are a true source of motivation for the rising stars at his disposal. “When you have the best player in the world, what do you think will happen? Cristiano is Cristiano,” he said. “Of course, he always wants to be present in the national team and has a lot of value. It’s not only the quality he has, but he means a lot to the younger ones. “He is a player who has many titles, and always want to win more and more, and this is very important in this team, which has many players who are taking their first steps. “Many of them have won a very important trophy, but do not have so many titles in their careers. And you know how important a player is who has titles, because it gives them strength. And as I said, the presence of Cristiano has a lot of value for the team.” Portugal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Switzerland in their opening qualifying match, but Santos has no concerns that the European champions will not be involved at Russia 2018. “I am sure that Portugal will be at the world championship,” he said. “It’s a team of great quality. They know very well what they have to do and I have great confidence in them. “The World Cup is something that I’ve never had with Portugal. It’s the first time. It’s natural that the players have an ambitious outlook, it is natural that they want to be in this championship.” The post Santos: Ronaldo A Source Of Inspiration For The Young Portugal Players appeared first on
65 Corpers Repeat Service Year As NYSC Observes ‘Low-Key’ Passing Out Ceremony Nationwide Posted: 06 Oct 2016 09:52 AM PDT

A total of 7,298 corps members are expected to pass out of the service year in the 2015 Batch B. Out of that number, 4,080 corps members will be passing out as stream I, while the rest are stream II and will be passing out on November 4, 2016.

Speaking at a ‘passing out’ ceremony on Thursday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja, the Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure, disclosed that about 65 of the corpers will not be passing out due to one reason or the other.

He said: “For now, only the 2015 Batch B stream I is passing out and they are 4,080. “The rest of them who are in the 2015 Batch B stream II will pass out on Nov. 4, 2016. “About 65 of them will not be passing out due to one reason or the other. These corps members are likely to face an extension of their service year. “One corps member died during the service year from an auto crash. Some corpers distinguished themselves by embarking on developmental projects during the service year; they will be honoured by the FCT Minister in November.”

Represented by Mr Adewoye Omotayo, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Kazaure added that the scheme held back the yearly ceremony due to current economic challenges facing the country.

“It was a decision made to ensure that all corps members remain safe. On a day like this there is usually a lot of movement of corps members and to prevent any problem from arising we decided to hold back any ceremony. “The ceremony was also stepped down nationwide because the 2015 Batch B set of corps members were divided into streams I and II. We cannot hold double ceremonies for them just a few weeks apart,” Kazaure said. READ ALSO: NYSC Releases Mobilization Timetable For 2016 Batch B | See Dates Here
