Wayne Rooney Ready To Fight For Manchester United Spot Posted: 18 Oct 2016 04:22 PM PDT

Manchester United’s captain Wayne Rooney has revealed he’s ready to fight for his spot on the team. The England captain has started the last five games for club and country on the bench, but revealed he still had time to get back in the starting lineups. “Yeah, of course,” he told reporters at Anfield after United’s match with Liverpool, who asked if he was unhappy. “You want to play. I just have to try and do my job for the team, and wait for my chance. “I like to think I can play every game, but obviously, it’s the manger’s decision and I respect that. I will be ready when I’m needed. I’m 31 next week, I’ve got a lot of football left.” “No [it’s not the biggest test]. I think it’s just football,” the five-time Premier League winner added. “I’ve started through all my career, this is a new challenge, it is a new period. “Of course I want to play – I just have to keep working and get into the team. I’m sure my chances will come, then it is up to me to take them.” “It was a game we didn’t want to lose; we knew it, the manager knew it, but we also wanted to try and win the game,” he said about the draw with Liverpool.   The post Wayne Rooney Ready To Fight For Manchester United Spot appeared first on

Over 100 Chibok Girls ‘Unwilling To Leave Boko Haram’ Posted: 18 Oct 2016 02:17 PM PDT

There are strong indications that over 100 of the schoolgirls abducted by militants of Boko Haram sect from Chibok may be unwilling to leave their Islamic extremist captors.

114 Chibok Girls Feared Dead, Married Off Or Radicalised As Negotiations Continue

This is just as the federal government of Nigeria embarks on negotiations that would see the release of another 83 of the Chibok schoolgirls taken in a mass abduction by Boko Haram in 2014. Speaking to the Associated Press, Pogu Bitrus, the chairman of the Chibok Development Association revealed that the unwilling girls may have been radicalised by Boko Haram, or are ashamed to return home because they were forced to marry and have babies for the extremists.

Boko Haram Releases 21 Chibok Girls To Nigerian Gov’t

Mr Bitrus urged the Nigerian government to ensure that the 21 ‘just released’ Chibok girls be educated abroad, because of the likelihood of stigmatisation within communities in the country.

“All those who escaped on their own have left Chibok because, even though they were held only a few hours, they were labelled “Boko Haram wives” and taunted,” he said. “We would prefer that they are taken away from the community and this country because the stigmatisation is going to affect them for the rest of their lives,” he said, adding that, “Even someone believed to have been abused by Boko Haram would be seen in a bad light.”

Speaking in the same vein, Mausi Segun, a researcher in Nigeria for Human Rights Watch, said the negative reaction of conservative communities would mean it was unlikely the released women would be able to return to Chibok.

“Any sign that there has been sexual contact with any man, and these men are Boko Haram, will cause a backlash. The likelihood they will return home is slim,” Segun said.

Chibok is a small and conservative Christian enclave in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria, where many parents are involved in translating the Bible into local languages and belong to the Nigerian branch of the Elgin, Illinois-based Church of the Brethren. According to the Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Usman, the soldiers were attacked at their position at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016. Usman said the troops suffered a “temporary setback” and had to withdraw from the location.

“The troops did their best to defend the location in vain. In the process, 13 soldiers sustained injuries while some are still missing in action,” the Army spokesman said. “However, the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and receiving treatment, while efforts are ongoing in search of those missing and clear the Boko Haram terrorists at the general area,” Usman added.

Man Sentenced To Four Lifetimes In Prison For Killing His Parents Posted: 18 Oct 2016 12:17 PM PDT

A 22-year-old man, Ashton Sachs, was ordered on Friday to spend the rest of his life in jail after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his parents and attempted murder of two of his siblings. ManAshton speaking at his parents funeral in 2014   His parents, Andra and Brad Sachs were real estate and technology moguls who lived in a multi-million-dollar home in California, with their three other children, 8-year-old Landon, 9-year-old Lana and 17-year-old Alexis. Ashton, who was 19 at the time, and his older brother Myles, now 23, were living in Washington to attend college and manage one of their parents’ properties there. The murder happened on the night of February 9 2014.   manAshton Sachs and His Parents   According to investigators, Ashton had driven through the night to his parents’ home, snuck into the house wearing a beanie and gloves at 2 a.m, and shot them each at least 10 times in the face and body. Some of the shots were taken at point-blank range. After shooting his parents, he moved on to his siblings. He did not shoot at his sister Lana, she was fortunately on a different floor, he shot at Alexis but missed. He shot Landon in the spine leaving his little brother permanently paralyzed. He was back home in Washington by the time he and Myles got the call that their parents had been killed. Even though during initial investigations he claimed he was innocent, soon after the murders, authorities found an assault rifle in his car, leading them to name Ashton as the main suspect in the case. When he was arrested, he told investigators he was angry at his parents for not taking a previous suicide attempt of his seriously and that he believed he was their least favorite child. Last month, Ashton called an unexpected hearing and confessed to the crimes. When the judge asked if he understood the rights he was giving up and that he would never be released from prison, he responded: “Yes, I do.” Ashton Sachs was sentenced to four lifetimes in jail (two of which are without the possibility of parole) and an additional 100 years for the use of his firearm. He has since shown little emotion (prosecutors alleged in court he is a sociopath) or offered any more explanation as to why he committed the crimes.   ManLisa McGowan According to reports, none of his siblings attended the sentencing, but his aunt Lisa McGowan did and she spoke to the courtroom and addressed Ashton directly: “I am told by friends and family to forgive you… Here’s my choice, I can’t forgive you.” The post Man Sentenced To Four Lifetimes In Prison For Killing His Parents appeared first on

Mauro Icardi To Be Offered Inter Milan Escape Route By Paris Saint-Germain Posted: 18 Oct 2016 10:25 AM PDT

Paris Saint-Germain hope to take advantage of Mauro Icardi’s situation at Inter Milan by signing the Argentine international in January, reports Le 10 Sport in France. The Inter captain has been involved in heated exchanges with the club’s infamous ‘Curva Nord’ ultra fans since the release of his autobiography – Sempre Avanti – in which he criticised their behaviour. He has since taken steps to cool the on-going feud between himself and supporters, but French media claim PSG want to offer him an escape route. Arsenal, who were also tracking the Argentina international in the summer, have been alerted by the news. But, according to Le10 Sport, PSG are confident that they will sneak in ahead of the Gunners and sign Icardi instead. The French champions are big fans of the 23-year-old and are ready to offer him an escape route out of his San Siro nightmare. A Federal High Court in Abuja Division on Monday sacked two members of the House of Representatives from Enugu State for alleged wrongful emergence as ‘flag bearers’ of the  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2015 general elections. The affected lawmakers are Honourable Stella Ngwu representing Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency and Honourable Dennis Agbo representing Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency.

Two other members of the party, Gabriel Okafor and Chijioke Ugwu, had approached the court after PDP conducted its primaries in December 2014, ahead of the 2015 general elections. On Monday, the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang held that the emergence of Ngwu and Agbo as the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in December 2014 was unlawful. He thereafter ordered the ‘sacked’ lawmakers to refund all monies they had collected by way of salaries and allowances since they took the seats in the House to the coffers of the National Assembly of Nigeria forthwith. The court also declared Dr. Gabriel A. Okafor as the rightful winner of Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency primary election, while Honourable Chijioke H. Ugwu was ruled to have won the Egbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency of Enugu State in 2014. Justice Abang ordered the INEC to immediately issue certificates of return to Messrs. Sergi Darder :I Never Had Interest From Paris Saint-Germain  Posted: 18 Oct 2016 09:42 AM PDT

Lyon midfielder Sergi Darder has revealed Paris Saint-Germain never made an attempt to sign him two summers ago. The former Malaga star has been a big hit in Ligue 1, and although he says he discussed a move to PSG with his agent before opting for Lyon, he insists the interest was never concrete. “We spoke about PSG, because it’s an interesting club, but I never had an offer from PSG,” he told Goal. “I knew that Porto and Inter were interested.” Darder signed for Lyon last summer and is content with the decision he made, feeling that his fortunes turned after he scored a terrific winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 last season. “I’m glad to be here. It’s true that the first six months were difficult, but my goal in the victory over PSG changed things in terms of confidence that my teammates, my coach and the fans have in me,” he said. “Everything changed.” “To play in Champions League is one of the reasons I came to Lyon. It’s a step up for me. I’m only 22 and it’s great to play this kind of game at my age,” he explained. “It’s a game that we have anticipated for two months now. I think it’s the biggest Champions League game for us but also the most difficult. We need to win, but if we don’t there are three games to play afterwards.” The post Sergi Darder :I Never Had Interest From Paris Saint-Germain  appeared first on

Ronaldo Wants Philippe Coutinho At Real Madrid Posted: 18 Oct 2016 09:15 AM PDT

Former Real Madrid and Brazil striker Ronaldo would like to see Philippe Coutinho leave Liverpool for the Bernabeu. Ronaldo spent five seasons in the Spanish capital, scoring 104 goals in 177 appearances for Real and winning two La Liga titles. “I would love to see Coutinho at Real Madrid,” Ronaldo told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. “Spanish football is, without doubt, the best in history. It has always bought the best [players] and produced the most beautiful football.” Ronaldo also had his say on a current Real Madrid forward, claiming namesake Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. Asked about the Portuguese, Lionel Messi and Neymar, Ronaldo said: ‘They are three great players. ‘I would also include Luis Suarez as he is playing very well. This is the most common question in all interviews – I don’t know if it is just for me, or for everyone, but when we ask this question we forget that they are three great players. ‘It is so difficult to choose just one as the best. They are very, very good. At the moment I will choose Cristiano as he is playing for Real Madrid, but we cannot forget how good Messi and Neymar are, and we must respect these players for the entertainment they bring us.’ The post Ronaldo Wants Philippe Coutinho At Real Madrid appeared first on
